Saving your animation as a video

Render the timeline into a video you can share or edit in another app.

Prepare the movie

1. Play the timeline once and check that the ending is right.
2. Confirm that the camera, device movement, screen clips, overlays, and audio finish when you expect.
3. Save the editable project before exporting.

Render and save

1. Click Movie in the toolbar.
2. Open More if you want to change advanced settings, including the renderer, resolution, frame rate, and quality. Keep Rotato for everyday export, or see path-traced video for Rotato Cinema settings.
3. Click Continue.
4. Choose a filename and destination, then click Save.
5. Wait for Rotato to finish rendering.

For transparent output, set the scene background to Transparent and choose an alpha-capable format. Use ProRes 4444 for an editing workflow when you need alpha; ordinary H.264 does not carry it.

Review the exported file

Use the preview to watch the actual file saved to disk. Check its first and last seconds, audio, text timing, and screen playback.

• Reveal shows the file in Finder.
• Open File plays it in QuickTime or your default video app.
• Copy lets you paste the movie into another app, such as a chat.
• You can also drag the filename into Finder or another app.
