Enabling and animating depth of field (focus blur)

This tutorial has been updated the to latest design of Rotato
If you made a big tiny detail you want to showcase, using depth of field might be the tool you need.

Using focus blur (depth of field)
Enabling focus blur
- Go to the Camera section in the sidebar
- Switch on Focus Blur
- Change the focus blur intensity and camera angle to see the blur
Using auto focus
- Go to the Camera section in the sidebar
- Enable Focus Blur if not on
- Click the Center button.
This focuses the camera on whatever is at the center of the scene.
Using manual focus
- Go to the Camera section in the sidebar
- Enable Focus Blur if not on
- Click the Custom button
- Click where you want to focus
- Adjust the intensity with the slider below the widget or in the sidebar's Camera section
Animating the blur intensity
- Add an animation to the scene if needed
- Place playhead at the first keyframe
- Adjust the blur intensity
- Place playhead at the second keyframe
- Adjust the blur intensity
Rotato will now animate between the first and second blur settings.
Animating the focus point
- Add an animation to the scene if needed
- Place playhead at the first keyframe
- Enable Custom (Manual) focus and click where you want to focus
- Place playhead at the second keyframe
- Click where you want the focus at the end of the animation
Rotato will now animate between the first and second focus points.
Disabling focus blur
- Go to the Camera section in the sidebar
- Switch the Focus Blur switch to off
