Animate exploded design layers

Animate an exploded Figma design to reveal the layers that make up the interface.

Import the layered design

Use the Figma plugin's Exploded Layers option to render the frame into Rotato. Top-level elements separate; groups stay together. See exploded views from Figma.

Set the start and end

1. Select the imported device and find its Explosion controls.
2. Set a starting separation and camera view.
3. Add an animation and select its starting edge to confirm the initial state.
4. Select the ending edge and adjust the separation and view.
5. Preview the complete move and refine its duration and easing.

Check the output

Keep labels and small interface elements readable at the final size. Scrub through the most separated frame to catch clipping before rendering the movie.

Save a separate project for the exploded treatment so you can return to the original flat presentation.
